Obituary: Sheryl Souhrada

Sheryl Souhrada, 73, formerly of DeWitt, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center-East in Davenport, following a brief illness.

Sheryl was born April 6, 1951, in Davenport to Elmer and Eve Rahlf. Sheryl was the loving mother of Jason (Angi) Ortiz and Mica (Josh) Spicer, and devoted grandmother to Pauline (A.J. Powell) Shepard, Andrew Ortiz, Jason (Elise) Ortiz Jr., Tyson Spicer, and Rachel Spicer.

After graduating from Davenport Central High School in 1969, she received her license in practical nursing. Sheryl worked as an L.P.N. in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. She was an active member of Long Grove Christian Church, where she enjoyed participating in Women’s Fellowship. She was also a proud member of TTT in DeWitt. Sheryl fulfilled her dream to move to Florida in 2023. Sheryl was a kind-hearted person who made friends everywhere she went.

She is also survived by siblings, Randall Rahlf, Tamara Page, and Lori Willhardt; nieces and nephews.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Cindy Martens, and spouses, Jim Ortiz, and Jeff Souhrada.

A Memorial Service was held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Long Grove Christian Church, Pastor Mike Rollings officiating. The family greeted relatives and friends in the fellowship hall from 11 a.m. until the service time.
